Ted Alexander, Scott Anderson, and myself wanted to give you an inside look of our seminars – behind the scenes. Ted Alexander is our co-founder and facilitator – he’s also our history expert that plans the topics, bus trips and speakers. He is usually working years in advance on topics (for example, he just told me tentative plans for 2017 and 2018!). Ted also consults with the speakers for recommendations on the stops for the bus tours, best places to dine, types of handouts, and more. You can see his handiwork with our 2015 lineup here.
One of the most important aspects of our seminars is the dining experience. Scott Anderson is our main man; he’s a chef and director of Shepherd University’s Dining Services. He works with each of the caterers and restaurants to e nsure we have a delicious meal.
Prior to the seminars, I handle the marketing materials, branding, website maintenance, reservations and registrations for the speakers and participants. My goal is to make everything ready behind the scenes prior to the seminar so everything runs smoothly once we kick-off a seminar. I tried to make the graphics pop on our July Seminar brochure, what do you think?
Our favorite part is the actual seminar. We have a fantastic logistics team comprised of Ted, Scott, Dean, Gunny and myself. Our top priority is giving all of you a memorable weekend learning about our Civil War heritage and learning from some of the most knowledgeable historians of our time. The seminars are also my favorite because I can finally meet everyone in person. This year we have people coming from all over the U.S., Canada and Australia. It’s going to be a great year commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the end of the Civil War.
Looking forward to seeing all of you again,
